President Roy F Scott's

MISSION STATEMENT

November 15, 2006

To the members of Chapter 17, this my Mission Statement;

I will begin by thanking Jim Haynes for the outstanding job he has done as president. Jim has put his heart and soul into this chapter. He has put this chapter on the map. I along with all members of Chapter 17 can not thank him enough for his dedication to each one of us, for his dedication, pride and loyalty to the 173 d AIRBORNE BRIGADE [SEP]; the Herd. I believe Jim has covered all bases and provided a strong foundation to build upon for now and for the future of this great chapter.

As president my mission will be to improve on what Jim has started. I will improve upon our communication an involvement. I will sit down with each state representative, and talk about what they need to improve the states membership. We will talk about rotating functions (Christmas party, SummerFest). I will get your opinions on the chapter bidding for reunions in our respective cities in OH, W. VA, W. PA, KY, IN and MI. But most importantly, I will listen to build on what WE can do.

I also would want to start using the term “THE HERD” we are Skysoldiers but we belong to the HERD. I need each members input.

In closing, a very good friend gave me General Colin Powell’s leadership lessons. Lesson #8: "Organization doesn't really accomplish anything. Plans don't accomplish anything, either. Theories of management don't much matter. Endeavors succeed or fail because of  the people involved. Only by attracting the best people will you accomplish great deeds."

We, together.

Respectfully Submitted

Roy F. Scott, Jr.
